Getting to the Fireworks gala

Parking Advice

With the large numbers of people attending the event, we recommend that visitors allow plenty of time to reach the Castle prior to the last admission time of 6:45pm.

There is very limited parking within Kenilworth so we suggest people park at a local railway station and get the train or use local bus services.

Public Transport

Regular public bus services run from Coventry, Leamington Spa, Warwick and Stratford. Details of bus timetables can be found on the Warwickshire County Council website.

The closest stop for the Castle on most routes is the Kenilworth Clock (Abbey End by the Holiday Inn).

There are hourly rail services to Kenilworth Station from Coventry, Nuneaton and Leamington Spa – please see www.nationalrail.co.uk for times and ticket prices. Please note however that there is only one train per hour in each direction and the service consists of a single carriage. All services are likely to be very busy on the day and some services may be full.  Kenilworth Station is about 15 minutes walk from the event.

Parking

Due to space restrictions, there is no parking at the event except for pre-booked Disabled Badge Holders only. Please see Fireworks Gala Key Information for further information on how to book disabled parking.

Public parking in Kenilworth is available in Abbey End, Square West, and Abbey Fields car parks.

Please be aware that the public car parks are likely to be full well before 5:30pm.

Other parking options are very limited and at least fifteen minutes walk from the Castle.

Please respect local roads and residents and be considerate with your parking, please do not block private roads, paths or driveways. Parking enforcement officers will be working in Kenilworth on the night.

It should also be noted that all the roads into Kenilworth are very busy on the day of the Fireworks Gala, especially the A452, Leamington Road, from the A46. In addition the B4103, will be closed between 4pm and 9pm outside the castle to allow the public access to the event. Diversions will be in place but significant delays should be expected.

Road Closures

Road Closures

As per previous years we will be closing roads from 4.30pm for the duration of the event for the safety of pedestrians. Please see below for details of the road closures and diversions for this year’s event. Please expect delays and allow plenty of time for your journey.

Update – Malthouse Lane will have traffic cones to restrict parking.

Bonfire night: placed as one of the top five displays in the UK by Visit England

Kenilworth Castle has a past dotted with royal connections, strategic fortifications and religious links. Once again, like many of England’s castles, it came to rack and ruin in the 17th century however it remained of great interest, even having its own guidebook in the 18th century.
